Quick one: F-plug

Quick one.
Can I strip off the connectors of a standard TV aerial coaxial cable and attach f-plugs? Or do f-plugs require a different type of cable?

I'm thinking of doing this for splitting multiple TVs from a single aerial source and f-plug splitters seem to be better

No. You can buy adapters to do this, much easier

Adapters would be easier, but yes you can and it's the other way round - different cables need different f-plugs.
I don't see why f-connections would be any better for splitting though.

F-plugs and 'aerial' plugs are for cables with different impedances, for long runs of cable I would suggest using the correct cable to avoid a poor signal. it probably will not matter too much for a short length. However an ariel cable carries virtually no voltage but a Sat cable (f-plug) carries a voltage to power the Dish LNB,
edit : Sat cables are in addition usually of higher quality
