Component Inputs = Progressive Scan?

Is this true? If a tv has component imputs then it automaticaly will do progressive scan, even 50hz units?

Apoligies if this is a simplistic question

There are different types of component input.

While many can be configured to accept interlaced or progressive,
there are some component inputs that will only accept an interlaced signal.
