Sagem HD-D50 G4 - how to remove speakers?

Hi all,

How on earth do I get the speakers off this? I'm terrified of snapping the clips cos you seem to have to give them an awful lot of welly to bend em....

Help!

Do you mean remove the speakers from the front panel, or disengage the wires leading to the speakers, so the front panel can be removed?

The side speakers are held on with a couple of screws

There should be no bending or forcing at all!!

Oops... Yes, when I first fitted them they just clipped on and as I was undoing them from the front of the set, I didn't realise there were screws Anyways, done it all now and bloody hell does it make a difference cleaning those mirrors! Naturally, when I put it back together I'd left a couple of fingerprints which I originally decided to live with but thought better of it, so I've stripped it again today and it looks even better now

Any Sagem owners who haven't stripped their set down yet to clean the inside of the screen and mirrors, do it now - the difference is amazing!

Hi Tom,

To clean the internal mirror, I just wiped it over with a clean micro-fibre cloth which attracted all of the dust. The rear mirror needed nothing doing to it. The inside of the front screen I used a microfibre cloth and some of the Mr Muscle window cleaner spray (note: do NOT use that creamy windolene stuff!) and cleaned the inside, same as for the front. My other half is a smoker, so I got a lot of crap off it, if you have no smokers in your house you may get away with just wiping it over. Don't forget to wipe the lens over as well, microfibre cloth again for this as it also had a coating of dust!

A couple of tips - you will need to remove the subwoofer to get the bottom of the screen bezel off, so do that before you start. Also when removing the screen, you need to remove the top bracket and the two side ones - just slacken the bottom one off and gradually lift the screen out, makes it much easier to re-assemble if you leave the bottom bracket attached One last tip, be sure to hold the screen by the edges once you have cleaned it, otherwise you'll do what I did - reassemble it all, and notice some massive fingerprints in the corner

Dear Mr Hellraiser,

I have the G4 50" and didn't need to remove the sub?

Is yours different to mine?

The bottom bezel 'popped' out with a strong will gentle prizing.

I also used a good quality screen cleaner for a smear free finish.

The difference, as mentioned, is quite quite impressive.

It actually stopped me from getting a Kuro as it reminded me that I still don't think you can beat the picture this set gives.

Mo

Nope, same set - it's just a lot easier to remove the lower part of the bezel with the sub removed, as you can get your hand under and pop the clips rather than prizing on the bezel to get it out Considering it is a 2 minute job to pop out the sub, it's daft doing it any other way and running the risk of cracking the bezel....

Go for it, it's a dead easy job - takes about an hour from start to finish, most of which is getting all the bloody screws out Just be sure to remove any jewellery first so as not to scratch the screen or internal mirrors...

Did you ever get round to doing this Tom? I've got to do mine again, cos a lump of dust has dislodged itself and looks like a great big thumbprint near the top centre of the screen
