Adjusting overscan on Sony 32FQ70

Hi

Great set but notice quite a noticeable overscan when watching DVDs. Can this be adjusted in the service menu?

Thanks

Yes, V-SIZE & H-SIZE are the adjustments you want.
Word of warning, this particular Sony chassis does not like an underscan situation which can cause a fault condition shut-down, so don't over adjust.

What if I do "underscanning" ?

HowieC:

You said that if you do an "underscanning" you will cause a "fault condition shut-down". What happen if you do that mistake?? Can't you turn the TV back on then? Or is it just to turn it on again, and change the setting back??

You would only have a problem if you reduced the picture so it was way too small, but if it did trip the protection circuits you would have a major problem.
The settings will probably need reducing by 2 or 3 points, just don't try and see how small the picture will go!!!
An remember MAKE A NOTE OF THE ORIGINAL SETTINGS.

Thanks - I already found this and made some adjustments. However although I can bring in the sides it does not correct the overscan of the DVD picture. I am still losing a far chunk to the left and right. I know this because my DVD players zoom feature first zooms in and then zooms out to show the whole image nsaller than the available screen - if this makes sense! On the zoom out I can see the information that is lost.

I suspect this must be an issue with the DVD player (Toshiba SD 330E) and not the TV?

Yes, it's the dvd player pixel cropping, not the tv overscanning.
