Toshiba 32ZD26 and Wii component cable - no picture

I've just got a third party component cable (Tecknet - good reviews on Amazon) for my Wii, which has been working fine with composite input, but I can't get a picture with the component cable.

The TV is a PAL Toshiba 32ZD26P - apparently it doesn't do PAL progressive, only NTSC, but when I plug in the cable and Wii is set to 480i, I get no picture (blue screen generated by TV) though I do get audio. User manual in case that helps.

I tested the cable by plugging the green plug into the composite RCA socket, and it does produce a black and white picture as you'd expect. I can't see any relevant options in the TV setup that help - tried 100Hz, progressive, etc.

I did set the Wii to 480p (using the composite input with green plug) and that didn't work, but I'd settle for 480i via the component cable.

I realise Wii + component is a common issue but I couldn't find any posts on this particular problem in the Wii forums.

Any ideas?
