30" Loewe Aventos Questions

Hi All,

I've recently moved back to Boston and dug up my Loewe Aventos 30" TV from storage. My stand was damaged, so I need to get a new one, but don't know how much the TV weighs. Does anyone know the approximate weight of a 30" Loewe Aventos? I purchased it new in the US in early 2004.

I'm assuming 55kg, but this is just a guess really, and I want to make sure I get a stand that can hold it.

Also, I'm assuming the Aventos is not compatible with BluRay -- is this correct?

Trying to figure out whether I should get rid of the Loewe and get a brand new LCD/Plasma or keep it, as I only watch TV occasionally.

Are today's LCDs/Plasmas (not at the high end) comparable in terms of picture quality with the Loewes of a few years ago?

Thanks!

A quick google for "Loewe Aventos weight" gives this post first and the following advert second, which suggests that your guess is probably close :

Loewe Aventos 3781 ZW 100Hz TV for sale - TradeMe.co.nz - New Zealand

I would say think about what you want to watch - if you want to watch mainly HD movies then go down the plasma/LCD route, but if it's mainly SD TV that you'll be watching, then stick to your CRT.

Is there much HD TV content broadcast in the USA ?

Plenty of HDTV in the USA.
I was actually quite inpressed by the setup of some of the TVs in Bestbuy, Walmart etc. - but this seems to vary by store.
