phillips28pw617 - switching on problem

When I switch my TV on it really struggles. Mkaes a himming noise and just see jagged line. Tries to create a picture then switches off. Have to wait a few mins and then try agan. Struggles again and eventually get a picture. At first it is just in the middle of the screen and the right hand side just wavers until it eventually fills the screen. Any thoughts before I just ditch it and get a new LCD? Thanks

Not sure if thats the correct model no but you have all the symptoms of capacitor problems in either the power supply or line stage. Not a diy repair but should`nt be to costly either.Better keeping the set you have than this new rubbish!!

Many thanks - well spotted - the set is actually 28pw6517/05. I decided to get an engineer round to take a look
