Re: sony kds55a2000 faulty

Are you sure there are no pauses? If not then I would go for a new lamp. Also try unpluging for 2 minutes from the mains then plug back in and switch on this is a very basic reset procedure. I would also carefully remove the lamp cover and the sliding door and check that you get 3 flashes followed by a pause and then 3 flashes. This will establish if the self diagnosis function is working correctly. Be careful removing the lamp cover door as a few people have managed to break the microswitch that signals that the cover is present.

Let us know

No no pauses at all, from what I read it's the red light for lamp replacement ? I'm getting just the green LED flashing . The only other thing I have noticed is the fan starts briefly then cuts out.

Re: sony kds55a2000 faulty

My Tv is packed away (bad optical block) but it is the power lamp that flashes for fault diagnosis and the lamp one that blinks for lamp replacement. The lamp one is the 2nd led from the left of the power button. Further to the left is the timer led. So the lamp one is between the timer and power one???

PS I reckon I may have 2 lamps (one in a holder) for sale soon if someone doesn't pull there finger out for my replacement OB

Re: sony kds55a2000 faulty

Its the 1st light to the left of the power switch which is blinking. I guess there is no easy fix, I have the engineer coming on Friday, glad I took the 5 year warranty now, just hope they can fix it without too many problems, I doubt the warranty people will want to shell out to buy another TV........

Re: sony kds55a2000 faulty

Try with the lamp removed from the housing that way the ballast will not be trying to light the lamp (but to be honest with the lamp door open it shouldn't be trying anyway). Do you hear any clicks (relays) at all?

Its the lamp, the engineer came today, so hopefully the warranty company will stump a new one, were did ask at the time of buying would the lamp be covered and we were told yes, so I hope that is correct. Anyone know of a decent place to buy if they don't??

If the lamp has gone & was replaced by warranty you have done very well. Watch out for green blob/ yellow stain as your hours must be getting near to the threshold where they will start to appear (assuming you got good service from your old lamp). Also I have a bit of a theroy about the blob and lamp changes. Please tell us if it is back up and running and if the image is no brighter?

YEah, I was worried they wouldn't relplace it, but its here

Tried to fit it last night, but I couldn't get it seated right so I couldn't fire it up, got the 3 flashing lights this time, will be trying again later, and I will keep updating if any issues or observations arise.
