Talking Beko widescreen colour problem

This is a strange one (for me anyway).
My television picture is exhibiting a green hue around the edges of the screen. The centre of the screen looks fine, faces in the centre have a good skin colour but as soon as they move from the centre to the side of the screen they look like the hulk (green face).

Does this sound like an expensive problem? I don't know whether its worthwhile spending money on it as although its only two or three years old it only has an analogue tuner so will probably need replacing sooner rather than later.

Thanks for reading

Re: Beko widescreen colour problem

Sounds like it could be a degauss problem. The set should degauss itself each time it's switched on. You can sometimes hear a buzz when you first switch the set on from the mains (or from the power switch on the front of the TV itself).

First try switching it off at the mains (not just to standby) for at least an hour, then power on. Make sure anything with a strong magnetic shield is kept away from the set (unshielded loudspeakers for instance). If this improves but does not cure the problem, repeat it a few more times.
If there's still no improvement, it's possible the degauss thermistor has failed (shouldn't cost too much to fix).

Re: Beko widescreen colour problem

Thanks for taking the trouble to reply, tried powering down as you suggested but no joy, it's definitely getting worse, there seems to a circle in the centre of the screen (taking up about 90% of the screen). Inside the circle the reds appear green and at the extreme edge they appear blue.

I think I'll do as you suggest and have an engineer look at it.

Once again, many thanks for your time.

Seconded...very common on Beko models.
