SAMSUNG DLP - Check Signal Message (no cpu involved)

Yesterday got home for lunch and on the screen was "Check Signal Cable" and the sound wouldn't work. We traded out the three set of cables and the new set worked fine. Woke up this morning to turn on the tv and the same problem exists with the new cable. Have not done anything different from normal... we dont have anything but a directv box plugged into the tv.

When I happen to turn the tv off, I get 2-3 seconds of sound

any ideas to troubleshoot? thanks!!
