Hdmi > xbox 360

Hi there, not sure if this is exactly the right section but I have a question I hope someone can help me with?

Basically I'm having a bit of trouble with my XBOX 360 which is connected to my tv with a (fair quality) HDMI cable. It's 1080i 60HZ.

The picture is nice and crisp but the problem is that the aspect ratio seems to be slightly squished horizontally ... e.g. when playing a racing game the cars appear too tall.

I know a lot of people wouldn't mind but I'd like to get it sorted if it's possible.

I've been into the tv menu and the ONLY setting is "zoom" which I have set to 16:9 as it's a wide screen.

Picture is fine through what I believe are (standard with XBOX 360) HDTV connections?

Thanks.

Re: Hdmi > xbox 360

1080 I on an Xbox will only output in WS...
I would say it is more to do with your panel, also set the xbox 360 to 720 P as you will get a better PQ overall..
What is the panel you are using???
It needs to be set on native 16:9 for everything to be fully compatible...
Zoom will do the opposite..

Re: Hdmi > xbox 360

Sorry what is a panel?

The tv only has zoom mode but the XBOX is outputting in 1080i wide screen HD.

I assumed 1080 would be better than 720

Re: Hdmi > xbox 360

1080 I is better than 720 P, but for the purpose of an Xbox console upscaling most of the games to 1080 I, you are making the xbox work harder than it needs, the Panel, if it is native 720 P, then set the resolution to 720 P..
Panel = TV..

Re: Hdmi > xbox 360

Ah right but I still can't get the picture to look right. After reading some more about it, it looks like I'm stuck with it as it is well lucky I only have to put up with it on weekends ...
