| Sony 32FX65 - strange behaviour with TiVo
A friend got a Sony 32FX65 for his bedroom over Christmas. It's working well, except for one really weird bit of behaviour.
He is feeding the UHF output of his Tivo (located downstairs) to the new Sony (UHF channel 28, but other channels had similar results). As long as the Tivo is displaying live TV, everything is fine; however, as soon as the Tivo puts any sort of overlay graphics on the screen, e.g. the Live TV guide, or the main Tivo menu, the Sony gets confused and about 4-5 seconds later goes into standby mode.
This is 100% reproducible. It can be triggered by someone downstairs using the Tivo remote, so no possibility of a Tivo remote code somehow upsetting the Sony.
The standby LED doesn't flash once the set has shutoff. Also, the downstairs TV is a 36" Sony and doesn't have this problem when viewing the Tivo over UHF.
Anyone else seen something similar to this? He'll be getting in touch with the highstreet retailer, but since all they'll do is offer to swap it for a different unit, I thought I'd check and see if this is a known 32FX65 quirk.
