My brilliant 7 year old Loewe Planus tv,has to-night shown it's age for the first time,and I am a woried man..

There appears to be a 6 x 4 blue blurr on the right hand side of my screen.I am no expert,but I fear my tube could be ready to go pop

Any advice would be welcomed

Is it a "blur" or is it a colour patch which could be caused by anything magnetic either nearby or that has recently been nearby ? (loudspeakers, phones etc.).
If the latter, then degaussing should fix it - unplug TV from the mains for a couple of hours then restart to activate the built in degauss (needs a cold TV to work).
Could you post an image of the effect that you see ?
