HD Cable Box - PC Tuner Card

Not sure where to post this, so I'll start here.
I'm in Canada, and would like to have my PC receive HD programming. I currently using Eastlink for my cable and internet.
TV Tuner cards for the PC will receive QAM HD from the cable, not encrypted content. My question is, if the signal is decoded in the HD Cable box, what format is the signal from the box to the TV? Is it QAM? I'm thinking that the signal from the digital box is an unencrypted HD Digital signal, and should be picked up as such, but, will the PC Tuner card pick it up?

Re: HD Cable Box - PC Tuner Card

It depends which HD Cable box you have and which of its outputs you are using (HDMI, DVI, analog component etc.).
It won't be QAM once it's passed through the tuner.
HDMI is a digital output, effectively a digitised version of YPrPb component but with some extra bits/packets to do with DRM (digital rights management) as part of the HDCP (high bandwidth digital content protection) scheme.
In any case, you would be better asking in a north American forum, mentioning the make and model of your cable box in your post.
