HD frequency converter

I was wondering if there is such thing as a screen frequency converter/upgrader?
My current HDTV I think only has 50hz(toshiba XF355 40inch) and i'd love to see the images move at a better refresh rate.

Re: HD frequency converter

There's no such product that will do what you look for.

It's important to differentiate between input scan-rate. This is the frame rate (or field rate) of the video that gets delivered to the TV. Most TVs in Europe will accept 24, 50 and 60. You can buy scan-rate converters, but there is no need to do this in Europe because our TVs accept all frame rates (unlike TVs in the USA which tend to only accept 24 and 60).

It sounds like you want some sort of device to upgrade your LCD panel to one which supports "100hz". There's no way of doing this (and honestly, those 100/200hz screens have other disadvantages of their own anyway).

If you really want to watch TV with great motion resolution - buy a Plasma

Re: HD frequency converter

thanks for the informative reply! Oh well, it was worth a try eh?
Plasma sounds nice, but don't they die quicker than LCD Tvs?

Re: HD frequency converter

Nope. There's a lot of misinformation spread about Plasma by high street stores who should know better.

Plasmas and LCDs last about the same amount of time. Both will last way, way longer than anyone would want to keep them, to be frank - by the time a modern TV really snuffs it, there will be better TVs out there that we'll probably have already upgraded to.

And because Plasmas aren't aggressively priced the same way a lot of cheap LCDs are, it's very likely that most of them will be made to a higher standard and will last longer than your average LCD TV, anyway.
