Samsung sp42w4hp rear proj -3d colour problem -help needed

Hi my tv has been working fine with no probs at all.. Until i turned it on this morning.. The picture colour has gone all funny.. Almost 3d like .. Alot of greenaround the pictures.. My 1st instict was that one of the bulbs has gone.. But i dont know anything about tv's.. But i know there are lots of experts here..

Whats wrong with it??
How much to repair??


Im hoping someone here will be able to help me.. If need be pm me..

It is probably a convergence problem. Your TV does not have "bulbs" but 3 CRTs which are focused on the screen. Alignment is critical. If this goes out you see 3 separate colour images.

I think your set has a feature called perfect focus? This is supposed to align
the colours automatically using sensors around the screen. Sometimes it goes wrong and the results go way off.
Try the perfect focus again when the set it cold and when it has warmed up. It might just come right. If it does switch off the automatic setting so it does not go off again!
If you can do a manual convergence even better.

Do a search on these forums for this problem and learn a bit about it.

It may be a case of adjustment or some chips may need to be replaced. The latter will cost a bit!

yes my tv has "perfect focus" - i did try it but nothing changed.. il try it when its cold and agin when tv's warmed up and see if that makes a difference..

Hi mate.. ive now tried the perfect focus with tv cold and also when warm but with no luck.. it does the thing with the squres but the %progress does not change it stays at zero...

ive watched few videos on utube on how to fix a convergence problem..

could u give me a product name or even better a product number- or an ebay item number, to point me in the right direction that i would need for my tv (samsung sp42w4hp)-

any help would be much appreciated
