Connected laptop to HDTV - picture find but sound comes from laptop

Hi,

I have an emergency that needs to be solved within 14 hours. My Sony Vaio laptop is connected to my Sony TV (KDL-40W2000) via HDMI. The picture is fine, and the sound comes through the TV if I play a video file from the laptop but should I play a DVD on the laptop then while the picture is shown on the TV screen the sound comes out through the laptop speakers. Is there a way to solve this?

Very strange. Maybe the TV sound is set to digital and the dvd software to stereo? Check the setting or try different software for the dvd. Often when a disc is inserted we are prompted to choose audio settings. Have you check that?
