Samsung SP46L5H Channel change

I have had a Samsung SP46L5H LCD rear projection TV for about 3 years, and recently it started changing channel after about 30 mins. It only cycles up - as if the 'up' button on a remote is pressed. Also, it switches back on if switched off to standby - once again, only when warmed up. It is not the remote control - I've removed it from the area, removed batteries etc. It is not the RHS switch panel - I bought a new one, then disconnected it.
I can put up with the problem if only I can disable the screen indication of what channel the TV has decided to switch to. (I can route the input through a STB). Does anyone know an easy way of disabling this annoying indication? - I've given up trying to fix the original problem, since it's probably an expensive microprocessor board.
