Exclamation AVI help

Hi,
I recently brought a Philips 42PF7520D, the only problem that I am having with the TV is when I play back certain avi files through my Xbox360 they look awful (Cinema copies at best). The films play mint through my previous TV and through my daughters TV upstairs but can’t seem to improve the quality on my new TV.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is now becoming very annoying. Sadly I am new to forums and not very technically minded so be gentle.

Thanks in advance for any one who can help.

Reg007.

Re: AVI help

Cinema copies?

You mean illegal stuff, that's rightly not discussed on here, because it's illegal?

Have you ever thought that they're just awful quality?

Re: AVI help

None of the files are illegal, they are avi files taken from my dvd collection using a recoder. Streaming the files through my Xbox is a lot easier than changing dvds.

The mention of cinema copies is used to describe how the films now apperar on my new TV.

Re: AVI help

Read the message, don't look for key words to to post incorrect information.

When i used the words Cinema Copies it is used to describe how bad the picture is.

I don't look for key words, that's just how it came across from your post mate.

You don't say what size the other tellies are.

If they're smaller, it's no surprise.
A bigger telly will show the faults and there's probably not much you can do about it.
AVI is rubbish resolution, simple as and when displayed on a 42" 1080 screen, will look rubbish.

To be honest, I didn't read it like that. I read it as intended. However, I agree with all your other points.

An AVI file will be a compressed file, the larger the tv etc, the more grainy, or more artifacts you will see.
