Dead HD-D45 - John Lewis warranty

Seems like my good old HD-D45 has had its second major, and this time terminal, fault. First time it was the fan, this time John Lewis havent said what is up, just that Sagem no longer produce the part.

So, after taking their sweet time to even come out and look at it this time, and then two weeks after the engineers came and carted it off, they have offered me £600 towards a new set. Is that a good offer, or should I hold out for more? Bearing in mind this was a 2 grand set, and I'd be limited in choice to whatever prices and sets John Lewis have.
