Samsung SP-42Q2HD needs convergence tweak and I need help.

Hello everyone!

Can anyone provide me with any codes and a 'how-to' guide to adjust the convergence on my 42" Samsung rear-projection telly please?

A mate of mine recently bought himself a new plasma screen and quite generously gave us his old one; it's a Samsung SP-42Q2HD.

Whilst I'm over the moon (my first big tv - whoopee!) it needs a bit of tlc. It seems that the self focus no longer works - engineer says a chip has probably blown - and the convergence at the edges is rather a bit out; it's like watching a dodgy 3D movie.

Anyway, this mate of mine also happened to mention that he'd had an engineer out to look at it, years ago, and the guy brought up a screen whereby he could adjust the convergence.

If anyone can help me out it would be most appreciated and save me a minimum of £60 to get someone to look at it. I know it's not HD, but I've got a composite input for my xbox and it looks fantastic (apart from the convergence issues).

Please help me AVForum members, you're my only hope!

Re: Samsung SP-42Q2HD needs convergence tweak and I need help.

Having read the thread below I thought I'd give the 'mute, 183' thing a go, and to my surprise it worked. Only trouble now is that I really don't know what I'm supposed to be doing.

Pressing the mute and source buttons seem to move a cursor that goes back and forth across the screen and I've figured out that there are a number of different screens, but I have no idea what I'm looking at.

Any help and a walkthrough to refocus my telly would be most appreciated.
