sagem HD-H50 G4 & comet cover

hi!

as i've mentioned on here before i bought my sagem from comet back on 2006, taking out 5 year cover.

i've had 2 years trouble free but now i've been having little problems that just wont go away

its had the mainboard & bulb replaced within the last year, but there is still 1 problem that wont go away. it will switch over to the tvs own freeview randomly. i can be watching a dvd or playing on a console & it just flicks over. the comet engineers turned off the freeview automatic software update search which stopped it switching over the "DVBT intalizing" but it did keep flicking over to the freeview. the last engineer told me to remove the aerial from the tv. this did stop it flicking over to the freeview, BUT it ment you cant watch freeview with the tv!

they've got onto a guy from sagem who said that there is no software update that will fix this. the comet engineer phoned me tonight & said that they cant fix it so all they can do is give me a freeview box to use instead of using the tvs

he couldnt hear me clearly as i was on the bus home, so i've emailed comet via their website saying that i dont accept the engineers solution as it would mean having a box (which i have no space for in my new small tv stand!) another remote & even more cables! LOL i just want my tv to work properly & do what its built to do, watch tv on.

anyone else had the same problem or dealt with comet before?

Re: sagem HD-H50 G4 & comet cover

just a quick update

received an email from comet saying they were investigating "customer not happy with repeat repairs of tv" following 7 visits! they are waiting for info from the repair centre.
yesterday the engineer phoned and said that he has a freeview box for me & wanted to know when he could come & fit it i told him that there is no way i want ANOTHER box under my tv, it wont fit & is more cables & another remote. i just want my tv fixed! he's going back to his manager to see what he says.

anyone else had a problem with comet saying your freeview is out of date? what did they do?

Re: sagem HD-H50 G4 & comet cover

got an email response from comet who say that they cant be held responsable for the changes in freeview, but as a token of good will offered me a freeview box. as i've turned it down them there is no more they can do!

so i phoned them to complain, woman at the repair centre said it was rather stupid that the freeview is out of date even before the digital switch over that it was supposed to be for!
she put me through to head office, who them put me through to the guy that emailed me. i told him that i just want my tv to work! & that nowhere when i bought it or on my insurance did it say that freeview wasnt covered. he just kept saying about how tchnology does move on but he will pass it onto a repair centre manager who will give the final descision.

i think i may be getting unto trading standards by the end of the week!

Re: sagem HD-H50 G4 & comet cover

when i'm not using the onboard freeview which is most of the time, I switch to freeview, pull the Freeview menu up, then change source. seems to work most of the time for me.
