Making a home theatre..

Hi everyone..well i have just purchased lg 42" hd tv specs here . i already had an lg home theater ht353sd. Now i want to squeeze the true potential out of my tv. So decided to go for the WD HD TV. Now i am not sure whether i would get true 5.1 surround sound as the ht353sd has no optical audio in. It will only handle stereo via aux RCA ports. I have known that HDMI cable also carries audio signal, so can i connect some other speakers to my tv and get the 5.1 surround sound????

Or with these equipments wot confuguration would you suggest so that i can play
HD videos with highest audio/video.
