High Definition Television multiple rooms

I have recently had HD television installed within my house and am rather new to the whole HD scene. I want to enable HD tv in another room without having another hd box. I understand that this can be achieved with the use of a magic eye in the additional room linked back to the hd box and then splitting the hdmi output from the hd box and running this signal back to the additional tv?!
Can anyone tell me if this is correct? I have set the system up but think i may need to get a better hdmi splitter. Any recommendations?! All want to achieve is being able to view hd tv from another room and have the ability to change channel from this room too!

Any advice/suggestions would be very warmly welcomed!
Many thanks

Sebastian

No, the magic eye things don't do high def, they do slightly poor quality standard def, well mine did previously anyway, but always prepared to be educated further .

For an hdmi splitter I can recommend this - ClimaxDigital 1080P 1 Input 2 Output 2 Way HDMI: Amazon.co.uk: Amazon.co.uk:

Comes with a power supply, but I've not needed it.

Re: High Definition Television multiple rooms

Im not looking to run the hd signal through the magic eye, just simply control the channel. My aim is to change the channel with the magic eye and then run the signal (with the aid of the splitter) direct from the hd box back to the additional tv. Does this make sense?!
Thanks again!

A link I saved for myself, but bought something simpler and cheaper Marmitek PowerMid XS wireless infrared extender set | Really Clever Homes

And even flasher and more costly Keene Electronics

Hi, did you ever find an answer to this because I want exactly the same thing, indeed i'm not that bothered about changing channel, I just want to watch the same channel on 3 x TVs at the same time 2 x HD ones (Lounge as the main HD TV & HD TV in the Bedroom) and a small SD flat screen in the kitchen...

Re: High Definition Television multiple rooms

Hello all

You can combine the functionality of an HDMI Distribution Amp (Splitter) with IR over RF cable 'Magic Eyes' to achieve HD Video + Stereo audio over HDMI and wired control of the SKY HD box over the RF cable.

Where its impractical to use conventional HDMI cables for the cable runs to the distributed Displays you can use HDMI over CAT5 extenders - some extenders will allow HDMI + Optical + IR so don't then require the RF cable network; Media Factory - Octava HDOCAT, HDMI + Optical 5.1 over CAT5 Extender inc. IR Passthru
