Matsui TV showing PROTECTED

Hi,
I got a Matsui 27" CRT TV on Freecycle.
It's been working fine but today my toddler switched it off and my wife guessed at the codes (incorrectly).
It is now flashing "PROTECTED" and switches onto standby.
Is this something I can fix?
Needless to say, I do not have a manual!

Re: Matsui TV showing PROTECTED

hi mate try this taken off another site when someone had similar problems >

Stuck in Protect Mode: First attempt to guess the four digit code by using any random numbers. On your third unsuccessful try the unit will stop asking for pin numbers on screen and go into the "protect mode" Within 5 seconds hold in the volume down on the TV at the same time as pushing the Number "7" on the remote handset. The set should then come on in the "unprotected mode" & you can see & alter the pin code in the correct menu if you desire. BTW if you have made three incorrect guess, this set has to be left unplugged for sometime B4 it allows you to guess again! It will go into standby within 10 seconds after "protect" is flashed on the screen.

Thanks for this.
Unfortunately this TV does not seem to have a volume button!
Unless I am dense and cannot find the secret flap!

Re: Matsui TV showing PROTECTED

Thanks for all the help.
Turns out that all I have to do is to leave the set unplugged for a while (overnight in my case but it may be less as a minimum required) and it goes back to the beginning.
So problem solved, what a relief!!!
