Hi Guys,

I have decided to post here as this forum seems to be the Best!!

Our TV has just gone caput! - could be something to do with the hot weather??? Or it could be nothing to do with that just age, it's about 6 years old and has been well used.

Anyway essentially 75% of the screen just isn't working and remains black, I've tried all the AV channels and they're all the same so it's not likely a problem with any particular input. I cannot see the blue setup options either which also suggests to me the problem lies with the screen

The portion of the screen that isn't working is basically everything below the top 3 inches of the screen - I have always thought that a tube going bad would result in the screen gradually reducing in size like the end of the twilight zone!! But I'm often taken in by urban legends and stuff so it may be utter nonsense.

Hope you can offer something in the way of a diagnosis and/or possible prognosis.

You have a frame output fault by the sounds of your description.
It could be something as simple as a dry joint or a failed component in the frame (vertical) output circuit...it could also be a corrupt eeprom IC...either way...unless your handy with a soldering iron and are used to handling electronic components you'd be best advised to call on the services of a local TV repairman.
