Phillips 36pw9527 Crooked Picture

Hi all,

I have recently purchased one of the above TV's that's a couple of years old. It seems to be a pretty good TV except the picture is tilted, on the left side of the screen the picture is probably 10mm higher than on the right, so its very noticable. If I zoom in so the picture is slightly cropped it is not a problem, but if there are any black lines or bars on the bottom of the picture it's very obvious.

I have searched this forum and found how to get into the service menu, and have been all through this trying every parameter and have found none that adjusts what I need. Is it possible to adjust this at all in software or is it a hardware adjustment or something?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If i am correct you can tilt the picture from the service menu. If you search it you will find it.
I have the 32pw9617 and i remember the tint setting.
Try one more time and you be lacky next time.

Im fairly certain there was no such option, I will list all options verbatim later tonight, perhaps I am misunderstanding one of the labels.

Worked out that this was due to the sets orientation with respect to the earths magnetic field! If you rotate the set on the spot the tilt dissapears.

As there doesn't appear to be an option in the service menu to correct for this I can only assume the normal course of action would be to install the set where you want it and call a technician in to adjust the yoke to compensate for any magnetic field offset.

My next mission is to get something hooked up to the RGB input. The only thing I have gotten to work so far is 640x480 from a PC using the DB15 RGB connector on the back of the computer, but I will continue to experiment.

Do you have any speakers nearby? They can cause all sorts of probs.

Nup, closest speakers are about 6 meters away. I found the idea in a post on another forum while googling. The person had a 32" crt and was complaining about a 1/4" tilt on the top of the screen and a technician replied that this was well within tolerance for being from the earths magnetic field, so I tried it an lo and behold.
