Are these sets glossy or matte? Would really want to avoid glossy.

personally i wouldnt advise on glossy sets if one has young or infants, in saying that, my current set 46" plasma that have owned for couple of years now, has a glossy frame, and a big piano black pedestal, my youngest is fourteen and well tamed so there are very, very minimal scratches on it.

If you are talking about the screen from what I have read so far I believe they are glossy however the bezel is matte.

Yes, I meant the screen itself. Thanks.

Glossy screens give sharper picture and better blacks. Alas, with reflective downside!

Which renders the screen useless. I'd rather live with matte.

They have managed to get a review out without the Tv having even hit the shops or even with a confimed price, yet none of the UK review sites have done one when this set has been on sale in the uk for at least a week and a half!!

Pretty poor from Panasonic....remember they supply the TVs to the test labs and reviewers....hmmmm....all very strange

Remember they have taken a bashing recently on many forums for their percieved lack of service in relation to their recent 3d plasmas....

On their lack of service, I am yet to recieve my set or a phone call to arrange delivery despite promises I will have it by the end of the week! I will never be buying from them or their franchisee's again, next time I will go the JL or RS route!!

I really want this to be THE TV for me, and being a gamer, I've had my fingers crossed that the reviews would report back with a low input lag. I'm a little gutted that the above review reports lag of up to 80ms.

I'll await further reviews to get a rounded consensus. Stupid LG panels..

i'm no expert but i do understand lag (i think) but i don't get is this 'upto' 80ms lag, how does it vary? is it different inputs i.e PS3 produces more lag than the 360 or is it more like fifa12 produces more lag than gow3 for instance

Everyone that has one of these sets says that it is fine for gaming and they cannot detect any Input lag! I reckon as you say this is just a bad revew.

Upto 80ms probably means with all the picture processing turned on. Could be a totally different story with all the processing turned off or in game mode.

As for the bad review comments the review is done by John Archer who is a long standing, well respected professional av reviewer who writes for mags like home cinema choice.

Ok say there is as much as 80ms lag, would there be a firmwire update to sort this out, and for one why wasnt this sorted out before panasonic bought into LG's panels, as i even knew bought this problem since last year with LG's panels.? Just wanna know can they fix it ?

I can assure there is 0 detectable input lag on on my 42"
Tested CoD4, Dark Souls, MX v ATV Alive, Fifa 2011 etc on the Xbox.
Being a PC gamer mainly I would notice lag very quickly and it would drive me mad.

Gaming isn't taken seriously by a lot of the AV reviewers, many of which don't seem to have an interest in gaming. Rarely do you see reviews that rate the picture quality when all the picture processing features have been turned off which is how many gamers will use the tv. It's frankly rubbish to be honest. I've seen tvs with glowing reviews give horrible gaming images with terrible judder on panning shots in games as you turn in fps games or racing games. Unless its obvious they have tested the TV for gaming use you can only judge reviews for non interactive use. The review linked to above seems quite good overall from a non interactive perspective but seriously lacking from a gamer's perspective with not enough solid facts about gaming performance.

I waited over 3 years for a firmware fix to my Panasonic Plasma to support a feature they said was 'coming soom' over 3 years ago...

So don't hold your breath...

Does any one know if the web browser on the Panasonic ET5 support Adobe Flash, and which version?
By the way it is € 849,00 in Holland

I think prices will be competitive as we get nearer to the Olympics.

Ok, I feel a bit more appeased regarding gaming on this set. Clearly, I'd need to try before I buy.

For those who already have this set. Are you not worried you have gone 'all in' with purchasing Panny's first 2012 set, without waiting to see what forthcoming sets are like? I'd be worried about buying this set now, only for other Panasonics (or Samsungs, Sonys etc) coming out and be lauded as the best thing ever lol.

Excuse my ignorance, but are there 3D versions of these games you can play on a set like this?

There will always be a better model around the corner and one could wait for ever.

3d games list http://www.3dtested.com/3d-xbox-360-games-list/

I have used the 2d-3d conversion and it works well on games

I wanted to get a passive 3D set and this is the only range Panasonic will be selling. The others are active.
