looking to replace my Samsung LE46C750 as it has clouding on bottom left corner off putting watch 3D films such as christmas carol. Also I am now victim of the blinking issue however I discovered it only does it when the freeview aerial is plugged in and blinks at random time when watch a movie on the PS3, through the HDMi connection. Was wondering got the TV back Jan this year from Richer Sounds thoughts are would they replace the unit refund? and if so what do people think as a replacement been looking on these too models. I want to avoid clouding affect and any banding/flickering issue from the screen.

I have a PS51D6900 and a UE40D6530 and love them both. If I could only choose the one set it would have to be the PS51D6900, it has just as deep (if not deeper) blacks despite what others would have you believe. 2D picture is pretty amazing for the price range in both standard definition and HD and 3D wipes the floor with the 6530. I purchased the UE40D6530 first and was pretty much blown away at the pricepoint. I avoided the 46 inch model as people were complaining about terrible backlight bleed. My screen doesn't have a single dead pixel but there is a minute amount of bleed in all 4 corners but not even a hint of clouding. 2D performance is pretty amazing too, 3D puts last years C series plasma to shame but doesn't reach the quality of the 6900 and the small amount of crosstalk visible on the 6530 is clear and not tinted like on the C series.

6900 owners have complained about brightness fluctuations, I have witnessed this but only on terrestrial TV and to me it's almost invisible unless you look really hard for it. On Blu Ray and PS3, Xbox360 I haven't noticed any contrast pops whatsover, I may just be lucky as the set has no buzz whatsover.

Both sets are excellent considering the price point, one thing to note is the 6900 is missing sykpe and the web browser but if you ever tried the web browser on the 6530 it is not something you would ever use again and as far as skype goes, I have no intention of paying £130 for a camera, so both functions to me are worthless.

Thanks I've been having the same dilemma, the £900 PS51D6900 or the £800 UE46D6530.
When I went to see both of these briefly with the mrs the 2D picture in Comet looked better on the LCD but 11 more inches and the fact the TVs haven't been configured properly means i was still not sure

I had the D6530 awesome tele but doesnt do full hd in 3D and doesnt display 3D as well as the D7000, so i had samsung pick mine up and are giving me a refund now which should be in my account in the next few days so i can go get a D7000. For the money though the D6530 is superb, excellent picture quality and does 720p 3d for blu-ray movies and some games :-)

What version of the D7000 are you getting plasma or the led backlit? I'm looking at the D7000 myself I was gonna go D8000 but the only difference in the eu models are the bezel not worth the extra 150-200 lol.

The LED backlit, I dont like plasma due it not looking as vibrant and sharp as LCD's also the LED backlit one is thinner.

Am looking at the UE46D7000 but prices dont look like they are gonna budge, hoping to get mine this week if my refund for Samsung comes through by Friday when I get paid.

The D8000 is around 0.1mm thinner I believe however it also has 0.25mb more onboard memory so its got 2gb whereas the D7000 has 1.75gb, also the D8000 has the titanium look bezel and light up name. Ive seen it for around £100 more at most places but unless you got £100 you want to throw for this extra features then fair enough :-)

The D8000 is also edge lit I think I'm not to keen on the edge lit models.

They are all edge lit, all the Samsung LED tv's are edge lit, in fact I dont think I have seen any models from other companies that arent edge lit.

The only screen I have come across that is FULL NANO LED as in the entire panel is LED is the LG home cinema tv which is 46inch and above but thats very expensive.

Aghhh lol Sry I seen the specs on d7000 it said backlit led and the specs on the D8000 said edge lit I thought that meant the 2 had different types of led.

I have a 51"D6900 and its amazing for the money, Id not touch an edge lit LED LCD myself.
The D6900 has quite a vibrant picture for plasma, its as sharp as any LCD with fantastic detail seemingly more than my GT30 had. The fluctuating brightness has been fixed with an update(read the owner thread). Amazon have them for 800 I think worth a look. 3D wise wow not watched a lot on it yet but Megamind is stunning, the set has little to no crosstalk and both in 3D and 2D the picture is clean and clear.

Do you game on it? Been reading that image retention is anoying on plasmas.

Im a BF3 player and only use plasmas. Plasma get IR but most the time it goes quite quick. Plasmas need to settle when new so you just take it easy for around 200 hours, maybe game upto an hour then watch some tv for a bit. After the sets are run in IR isnt much of an issue. Also dont confuse IR with burn, IR is temporary. You shouldnt game for too long without a break anyway but I can safely say the odd 4-5hour sesh is ok on a run in set, you may get a bit of IR but its quite mild and will go over time. If you like playing FPS I think youll appreciate the low lag on the D6900 or lower end Panasonics. Only thing really wrong with the D6900 is it doesnt perform well in a bright room, otherwise its fantastic.

Just to add, I like the glasses with this set too, nice and light, better than the Panasonic glasses IMO.

I think given all those points another reason why LED/LCD is better

Also looking on the net and reading some posts elsewhere apparently plasmas are no good for gaming but thats what i read.

Plasma has lower lag, higher motion resolution, more shadow detail and no motion blur. Think Ill stick with plasma for gaming myself.

With the D6530 that I had, I had no lag, no problems with resolution, motion or shadow detail.

In fact all the detail in the images were immaculate and also have been out to see plasma next to LED/LCD.

Just pointing out some technical facts. Have you had proper demos or just looked in Currys etc?

Ive not gone into Currys in years thats the last place ill ever buy anything from

Ive been into PRC and RGB and spent about an hour looking at both, I have always preferred LCD panels but did give them both a good look over and still preferred the LED/LCD :-)

Ah cool just some people dont do that. I just like people to demo things properly before spending a lot of money, plasma isnt for everyone, its by no means perfect...close though.

Awesome :-) problem is nothing is perfect no matter what technology people choose to get theres always gonna be faults which is a shame :-(

I finally got my refund from Samsung and am pretty hyped about getting my D7000 over the weekend going from a 40in to a 46in for my bedroom, the tele is gonna be in my face lool!

LOL enjoy I went from 42" to 46" to 51" the rooms way too small for a 51" but wow love it lol
