SAMSUNG LE40A556P 40: any better recommendations

I've decided to go for the SAMSUNG LE40A556P 40": less than £600

I was thinking of going for the 42LG7000... but thought of going for this instead
ALSO... intentionally saving £100 by not going for the 6 series Samsung

Just wanted some opinions: are there any other alternatives that are significantly better for the same price?

Thanks!

I would just spend the extra on the 6 series

No, Sony doesn't. I *think* it has 24p, but don't quote me!!

Re: SAMSUNG LE40A556P 40: any better recommendations

thanks for the reply
i've made my mind up: i'm going for the 5 series!
after crying over having missed the 42lg7000 deal...
i've been researching and researching
i think the samsung 5 series is best for me

to be honest: i don't even watch tv that much

5 series vs 6 series: 20,000 contrast difference + 100hz + hdmi port
(i'm sure there's one or 2 other compelling reasons as well!)
i'm happy to save £150

Don't know if it's better but have a look at this one out of interest:

Play.com (UK) : Samsung Series 6 40" LE40A616 HD 1080p Freeview Widescreen LCD TV : Electronics - Free Delivery

Sorry to keep repeating this post in various threads!

damn!!
thanks for the reply
tempted now!
whats the difference between this and the LE40A656A?

at a glance the only difference i see is the contrast ratio
one is 30000:1 and the other is 50000:1

and why isn't there a LE40A516?
i tried googling but got no results

Think the 656 has higher contrast ratio, extra hdmi port and has the more obvious red tint. Not sure about the 24fps though - don't think the 616 has that. No idea about the 516 sorry!

Re: SAMSUNG LE40A556P 40: any better recommendations

thanks for letting me know
i'm sticking with the 5 series
from the *extensive* research i've done: most tv's seem to have the 24p
some just choose not to advertise
i could be wrong on that though

Re: SAMSUNG LE40A556P 40: any better recommendations

Ive got the 558p3 (same telly, just different cosmetics) Not noticed any judder on blu-ray with any of the films ive watched. With sky hd, the picture quality is very good. I sit approx 6ft away from the tv (i no, i sit too close, but moving soon). For the money, and what im using it for, its brilliant

Re: SAMSUNG LE40A556P 40: any better recommendations

we've just picked tonight..

TOSHIBA 40XV551D

(it has the same spec as the SAMSUNG LE40A556P and just about the saem price around £550)
the SAMSUNG LE40A556P for £538.99 were only ex display/models and no where seemed to have any in the box so we went to the Toshiba for the VFM

also got a stand,
samsung HT-TZ212R/XEU (surround sound)
toshiba RD88DTKTB (DVD/HardDrive recorder)
monster cable standard 550HD for HDMI 1m
monster cable precison 75HD for HDMI 1m
philips fiber optic cable 1.2m

all the above from Comet £1110

so dead chuffed with the price.
