Which televison to buy from currys special offer

im after a tele for my first house and have seen 2 in the sale in the currys group.
the first is the 42" lg7000 lcd,
and the other is the 50" samsung plasma PS50A556S
i have had a quick hunt around on here, and found points about them both.
so which one is the better set. i will be using it for sky(movies and sports), and gaming (PS3)

I would say the Samsung. My friend just bought it for his flat and it looks amazing both in terms of picture quality and the actual TV itself.

Hello Daveey,

Why would you not buy an LCD TV from Currys?

Have you had bad dealings with them in the past.

I think it's a fairly well known thing that most people on these forums think that the likes of Currys, Comet etc are full of numptys who dont have a clue what they are talking about.
That's why people dont like to buy from there.
I also believe this having first hand dealings with some of there 'numpties'.

Anyway back on topic, DaveLeach, if you are going to be doing a lot of gaming I would recommend an LCD.
These are generally a better recommendation for gamers due to the fact that Plasma's can suffer with screen burn/retention unless you are careful with the amount of time you are going to be leaving a static image on the screen.
However, if you are going to be watching the majority of movies I would recommend a Plasma as I personally think they give a better image for movies.

Re: Which televison to buy from currys special offer

On a related note, there have been discussions about DSG's ability to survive the credit crunch.

They recently made many of the PCW Techguys redundant, which questions the value of the group's extended warranty support, as less tech's will be more busy. The flip side could be that any issues with a screen, will results in a refund / replacement, as opposed to "weeks of hell" waiting for a procession of engineers to fail to repair your latest flat-screen TV.

Re: Which televison to buy from currys special offer

I looked at the LG 42LG7000 Exclusive 42" 100Hz LCD TV from Currys because it has been discounted so much, but after researching it I decided it was naff.

I ended up buying the Samsung LE40A656A 40" 100Hz LCD TV after a thorough research, good value at £699

And I have to say it hasn't disappointed at all
