Some advice between two 40" tv's

After an expensive car bill, my beloved TV budget has been slashed to a meagre £350. I'm looking to upgrade from a 2006 Samsung LCD 32" to a 40 - 42". After trawling countless sites and finding the best deals, also weighing up the LED/LCD vs plasma debate, I've come down to two choices.

Discounting plasma as my lounge is pretty bright, and also LED because at this price point I'd like panel uniformity and don't really want edge bleed issues.

So it comes down to the Sony KDL-40CX530 which I can get new online for £349 or the Samsung LE40C530 for the same price. Both are 2010 models, CCFL backlighting, same dimensions give or take a few mm's and have reasonably good reviews on HDTV test (the Sony has far more reviews under the CX530 which the only difference over the 520 is Freeeview HD).

Was hoping that someone with experience of these models could help me make up my mind or give some advice if one may be preferential to the other. TV to be used mainly for SD/HD programmes through V+HD, films and PS3 gaming.

KDL40CX530? Do you mean the CX520 or CX523? If so it's a safer bet than the LE40C530, which is subject to a Panel & Processor 'lottery'.

Also consider the £370 LG 42LK450... http://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-42LK450U-...9834662&sr=1-1 ... I've seen a good review of it on another site that the moderators would prefer I didn't mention.

Doh! Yes I meant the CX520. I was leaning towards the Sony, possibly syncing with the PS3, though my current Samsung has done me proud for the last 6 years.

I didn't realise the Samsung's were that bad in the UK, panel lottery-wise.

I shall also look at the LG's. I was under the impression they weren't looked upon as favourably as the other brands but I guess I can't be too fussy.
