Can't decide between UE46B8000 & TX-P42V10

I am in a real dilema over which new tv to get, I currently own a 37" Philips LCD which is approx 3 years old and I am not unhappy with, but decorating the lounge and moving the tv has paved the way for an upgrade.

I was originally moving towards the Samsung because of its looks and reviews in mags such as what hifi, and also because of the 46" screen. I have since seen owners feedback and other reviews, on this site is one which doesn't rate it, especially for gaming, which I spend a reasonable amount of time doing.
I was then moving more towards the Panasonic, again because of feedback, reviews and the EISA award. But I was hoping for a bigger size than 42" but the 50" version would be too big. I was also concerned about moving from LCD to plasma, have I got used to the LCD's more colourful, unnatural picture and would I then be disappointed with the plasma's realism but less colourful?

I have managed to have a play around with the P42V10, and although the BBC HD feed looked good it didn't blow me away, and the other freesat channels in SD looked pretty poor if I'm honest, would SD be any better from a Sky HD box?

I haven't found a UE46B8000 on show that I could have a good look at so would really like to see one before I make the plunge, I'm in Kent so if anyone knows where I can see one in a show room near me could you let me know where?

Any feedback from owners of either or other input would be welcome.

Cheers

Hi Spaceboo! I have had the above mentioned samsung for a week now and have been very happy with the picture quality sd is very good indeed with a good source i viewed a lot of tvs an waited for about 8 months before finaly jumping in! I also considered the v 10 but was not so impressed with sd no did i think the hd picture was as good as the samsung and for blueray the samsung still blows me away. Regarding gaming I spend a lot of time on call of duty and am reguarly on top of the leaderboard and have no complaints at all also online Gt is very good I think people get well hung up about all this lag issue. I have just this morning recieved my 200.00 cash back for the tv havin bought it from costco ror 1610.00 minus the 200.00 cash back think i had a fantastic deal hope this helps Bernard.

Thanks for your reply Bernard, have you watched much sport on it? If so how does it perform? Also when and which costco did you get it from, was the £1610 including vat?
Regards,
Ben
