Advice: LCD TV for streaming media

Hi forum residents!

I apologise if this is in the wrong forum but i couldn't find anywhere more fitting.

I've decided that its time to buy a new TV but i don't really watch much television, i find most of what i watch is downloaded (All legally before anyone mentions it) content saved on my PC.

I'm looking for something that i can hook up to my home network and watch avi/mpg files that reside on my desktop PC.
I noticed windows 7 has features that allow me to share media libraries across my home network, i can use this to watch media on my laptop over the network but i would like to be able to watch things on a large screen from the comfort of my sofa.

Are there any TVs out there that can interface with Windows Media Centre (or similar software) or is the only option to buy a TV i can link to my laptop and stream to my laptop then output the video signal to the screen through a USB or S-Video cable?
