Samsung LE32B550 or Toshiba 37RV635D or alternative? (~400 pounds)

I hope this is the right forum for this question.

I'm looking at getting a new TV for around 400 pounds. I'm not in the UK but local prices are generally comparable to the UK.
The majority of watching will be SD freeview/cable with some very occassional wii gaming. I intend to get some kind of HD media player in the near future too, so there will be some HD viewing too.

Having looked at various reviews on the web and the wealth of information on this site I had decided on the Samsung LE32B550 as other than the sound it seems an excellent set.
However, looking again I found the Toshiba 37RV635D for about 30 pounds more and just over budget. The extra 5" would be good as the room is quite open, with viewing about 2.5-3m away (8-10ft).

I've not been able to find so many reviews of the RV Toshiba models. Strangely the 37" RV is cheaper than the AV model but for 32" the AV model is cheaper. Can anyone explain why this might be? I thought the RV was a step up from the AV model.

Anything else in this price range worth looking at? I had a look at the Panasonic 37x10 plasma but it is over budget unfortunately.

Thanks for any help

I'm in the market for a 37" LCD TV myself and have decided to go for the 37RV635D. Here are all the reviews I could find for the RV635 series:

I found the following three reviews to be very informative:
Google Translate
Google Translate
Toshiba 32RV635DB / 32RV635D Review: 32" Regza LCD TV

These were also decent but less detailed:

Toshiba Regza 42RV635D 42in LCD TV Review - TV Reviews - TrustedReviews
Toshiba 37RV635 TV review - from the experts at whathifi.com

Then there's the user opinions:

The TV also has low input-lag as tested in this article:

Hope this helps.

I'd look into the TXP37X10 some more if I was in your situation. I was considering it myself but decided against a plasma since I'll be using the TV almost exclusively for gaming. For your viewing requirements however it seems ideal, and at £450 (or around £500 with a 5 year guarantee from RS or John Lewis) it's a steal IMO. Many people seem to agree that it has the best picture quality you'll find at this price range, and I think it should be a serious contender if you can stretch your budget a bit.

The LE32B550 is a great all-round performer for SD and HD viewing. And with the calibration options available on this set, it puts many of its more expensive rivals to shame regarding the picture quality that can be achieved. Recommended

Thanks for the info and particularly the review links. I didn't think to try foreign sites and translating them.
Is the TXP37X10 worth the extra over the Toshiba? or the Samsung. I was trying to be strict with the budget otherwise there is always just a few more pounds for this or that
Does it being 'only' HD ready have any issue for the future? e.g. If I upgraded to HD cable?

Thanks.

No issue, HD cable isn't 1080p anyhow (like HD Sky), I have HD Virgin and the pic is better than SD on my previous gen Panasonic. The X10 should certainly be on your short list

Thanks. Maybe I need to go and see one of these x10 models in store to see what the fuss is about
If I do stretch my budget then the samsung 37b530 comes into play too around the same price. Seems to open up another lot of choices :D
