Smile Another "Which LCD to Buy?"

Please help.

I have decided to buy a 50 inch + Plasma for our new home, in the meantime I need to get a 37 - 42 inch, most likely to be 37 inch TV. I thought I will go for a LCD. Got to be reasonable for about £600 or so.

HD performance will be good on most TVs but was wondering about SD performance, Movies and Sports. Some of the models looked at:

Toshiba 37XV635DB
Toshiba 42XV635DB
Panasonic TX-L37G10
Philips 37PFL7??4 (Sorry forgot the exact model, but def 7000 series)

How about any good Sonys or Samsungs? What about LGs?

Regardless of money spent I am looking for a solid performer. Dont want to throw a TV away after about a 6 months.

Thanks in advance for your help and advice.

If looking for a stopgap for SD, go for the Panasonic 37X10 plasma, for around £450 Also, very good for blu-ray

Here's a review for the 42"

Smile Hmmmm.. Panasonics... What about G10 or G15 LCD

Hi Vickster thanks for the suggestion greatly appreciated.

Whilst I was looking at your suggestion of X10 came across G10 and G15. Is the PQ better with G10?

Is it worth shelling out more for G15 or are G10 and G15 same with the latter gaining some extra features?

Just wondering about your opinion on these models and of course anyone else reading this.

PS: Did not realise Panasonic made LCDs, when I was searching for G10 and G15 kept coming across plasmas

Panasonic make 32s and 37s in LCD. I believe the G10 plasma is great for HD but not so good for SD, where it is unsurprisingly outperformed by the X10

Smile 37 or 42

Thanks Vickster, couple of questions, Should I go for 37 or 42. Roughly seated away about 9/10 ft. Due to limited space at the moment the largest I can go for is 42. Do you think it will be an overkill? When doing research online most suggested greater than 37".

Also the missus sanctioned SkyHD plus other goodies. Now, would this change things around. Stick with X10 or ...........

Thanks in advance.

9ft, definitely 42" (or bigger!). SKY HD will be great on this.
