Looking for best 22/23" LCD TV... help please?

Have been looking for something to replace my current 19" monitor-based 16:10 display LCDTV which is connected via a Freeview box. I only use it as a bedroom TV.

The most promising candidate so far seems to be the 23" Samsung SM 2333HD (1080p), trouble is one of the reviewers claimed it was not a 'proper' TV and had very poor sound!

Comet are selling-off the last of the similar spec P2370HD, not shown on Samsung's website and - again, a monitor with a tuner...

But at least the Samsungs look good in the 'flesh' - unlike most of the competition which were either low spec or had a wobbly ('flat') glossy reflective frame surface and/or were just overly bulky/ugly!?

The well specced LG 22LH2000 had a particularly 'suspect' glossy moulded frame surface!

Don't the manufacturers care much about the spec and design quality of their smaller TV's?

Any advice gratefully received...

Check out the LG22LU7000 model with built in DVD. I have also been looking and have shortlisted this model.

Thanks but I don't need a built-in DVD player . . . that one appears to have a 'built-out' player - which I can't help thinking defeats the object a bit!

The TV itself is well specced but I imagine it'll have the same 'un-flat' shiny wobbly frame finish?

Have you seen one ...?

I've been out hunting today and came back with a couple of mags.
The Sony KDL-22ES300 had an excellent review! Googling it i can hardly find anything on it, so it must be a very recent release?? It's £400 but apparently "worth every penny".

I think it might be a US product - for now, however, it has an excessively wide frame in my opinion!

What's the point of designing a small screen TV only to saddle it with a big 'housing'?

My current 19" LCDTV has a screen bezel width of 15mm at the top and sides, at the bottom edge where the speakers are housed it measures a maximum of 40mm!

Dammit! the bezel on myToshiba 40" is only 20mm wide...

So it can be done... as long as the manufacturer's logo can be prominantly displayed and any speaker/control elements not too compromised then I can't see the need for useless and obtrusive flab around the picture.

Ooops! Sorry about my earlier response to Wondercat, the Sony KDL-22ES300 is listed here, Digitech are selling it for £397.65!

The spec shows o/all width of 586mm which at the screen ratio of 16:9 equates to a bezel width of around 48mm!

In the case of this particular TV I think the Sony sales team would argue that it's a 'visual statement'... I for one would consider buying it - if it had a 24" screen at that same overall width... and even that would leave a 28mm bezel!

I understand your point absolutely! It's a shame cause it was totally raved about. Nearly a perfect review score.

The Panasonic TX-19X10BW was rated fairly well - a bit of motion blur was the down-side on this tv. Blacks were considered very good though. £300.
The Tosh 19AV615 fell just slightly behind this one with minor backlight bleed and motion blur. It did well on sound. This was in the current What LCD/Plasma if you want to read up more of what they thought.

Hope all works out!

I bought the Sony KDL22E5300 about six weeks ago after months of deliberating and trying lots of models. Don't regret a penny of it. The picture is superb, especially after some tweaking since first plugging in.

It's incredibly high specced compared with other 22tvs, hence the high price tag.

I personally like the design and have it mounted on the bedroom wall where it looks just the job. Each to their own though.

Hope this helps.

I'd be really interested to know if people think that for it's tv and movie credentials if the Sony KDL22E5300 comprehensively beats what appears to be the 22" rivals posted above - the Samsung P2370HD and the SM 223HD - both of which are almost half the price the best price I can find for the 22E5300 (£390)? What attracts me to the Sony is the level of the spec which appears to be very rare at tvs this size. In particular, the fact that it includes Bravia Engine 3 processing technology, which from the larger models which employ this that I've seen in shops, I've been really impressed by.
Thanks

KDL-22E5300 Priced to clear

Not sure if your still looking or not, but M&S Sony Bravia 22'' KDL-22E5300 HD Ready Picture Frame LCD TV*-*Marks & Spencer currently have this Sony for £299.00 which I assume is to make way for the 2010 models.

At this price it's a good buy still if you like the styling. I'm ordering one for the bedroom.

Cheers.
