Hi everyone,

Any thoughts?
It will be used for Sky HD alone and lots of football

Panasonic 37x10 plasma, 720p HD ready but excellent for sport and TV (HD isn't 1080p). I am watching ESPN hd now on my previous gen model, very good

If you want a full HD set, make sure you get 100hz, look at the Panasonics, Samsung 40b650 or Sony 40w5500 (might be slightly over budget)

after looking around a bit, is the samsung le40b650 a good shout...
also why are people saying the 37" version is worse?

They use non-Samsung panels, different type (same for the Sony 37s) - the 40" panels are made by the manufacturers

because it uses a different panel(lower quality).The same applies to 37W5500,so it d be better to stick with the 40B650/40W5500.Both around the budget!
