40 inch lcd for around £1000

Hi,

I'm looking for a 40 inch lcd for around £1000.
This lcd will be used mainly for gaming and blu-ray.
I thought i had just found a few great Sony tv's as I heard they had the best reduced input lag for gaming in gaming mode.
Then i stumbled upon hundreds of posts about backlight bleeding and clouding and people not being able to return their lcd's to the store.
So now I'm totally confused about which lcd I should buy. Please help:P
I'm very interested in :
Sony KDL-40W5500 BRAVIA
Sony KDL-40Z4500 BRAVIA
Sony KDL-40Z5500 BRAVIA

Also a stupid question , as someone told me LED tv's have no more backlight bleeding and clouding issues, would it be better to buy a LED tv or is it crap for gaming?

Thanks for your time,

Greetz jmichielsens

Re: 40 inch lcd for around £1000

From what I have read, the V and W seem to have the issues, less so the Z

Aren't LEDs laggy?

LG seem to be favoured for gaming, and pretty much all higher end 1080p TVs handle blu-ray very well. Maybe wait for the new SL8000 LG? 42SL8000 Televisions TV/Audio/Video

I've really only heard about Sony being really good for gaming input lag with their gaming mode. Is there anywhere I can read up on LG's input lag ? I'm not a big fan of LG's Lcd's that are out there to be honest.

Hi,

First of all LED is the backlight source, they are still lcd tv's.The only case that backlight problems dont exist is led backlight with local dimming, otherwise its possible to happen on any tv.The input lag is related with the processing not the backlight. As far as the sony's are concerned, there is a game mode, which reduces the lag to very bearable to non-visible levels. But at your budget have you considered going for a 46"?the 46W5500 is just a bit above your budget

Re: 40 inch lcd for around £1000

Thanks for the replies guys. Yes I just looked into getting a 46" W5500 isnt much more expensive indeed. I'm just trying to look for input lag since I play online alot it's ridiculous :P and I don't want to have the disadvantage of massive input lag . Thanks again for all the info , really cleared up the confusion !

Feel free to reply if you have any more suggestions etc!
