Re: Toshiba Regza 42AV635DB vs LG 42LH3000

i dont think you can go wrong with either tv . i have an LG and its fantastic for gaming really havent had any problems with it, my model is the previose 3000 series (hdready) instead of full hd the LH3000 is suppose to be a very good gaming tv and the tosh is meant to be good too. best bet is to go to a store and see for your self. but i would defo recomend the LG hope this helps

Re: Toshiba Regza 42AV635DB vs LG 42LH3000

ah okay i know someone who has the toshiba and it looks good, but it only has a contrast ratio of 15000:1 whereas the LG has a ratio of 80000:1 - does this make a big difference?

Re: Toshiba Regza 42AV635DB vs LG 42LH3000

I'd pay the extra 20 quid and go for the LG, i'm buying the exact same TV in two weeks, probably gunna go in to have a ganders first but the spec looks pretty impressive for the price! my last TV was a 32" LG but only 720p and that was awesome enough on the xbox 360 so this i can imagine will be incredible on the eye!

Re: Toshiba Regza 42AV635DB vs LG 42LH3000

Hi,
I think both of these sets use the same IPS panels so to be honest the Contrast won't be that different. The Ratios given are dynamic and are not really representative of what is possible.

Like I said, that is just an educated guess at best from looking at both sets and serial number on the back of the Toshiba. I believe most of the AV, RV and XV series such as the 37 and 42 use S-IPS panels, same as the LG LH3000 and all of LGs other models.

Re: Toshiba Regza 42AV635DB vs LG 42LH3000

not to sure for the contrast benifits my LG has 15000 dynamic contrast and colours look good though by what ive read on here dynamic contrast claims are to be taken with a pinch of salt as its more a marketing blag than anything but as im not in the know how dont quote me on that lol. the LG has been said to be one of the best gaming tvs going so id recomend that.

Re: Toshiba Regza 42AV635DB vs LG 42LH3000

Or for the same amount (£500) there is the Toshiba 40LV665 in Comet - I believe that might have an S-PVA panel and comes with 4 HDMI, 1 USB and all the processing features mentioned above. This is only available through Comet/Laskys and I would think it will be limited to certain number.

It is the cheapest I have seen one of these panels available for, although there is no manufacturer warranty.

Re: Toshiba Regza 42AV635DB vs LG 42LH3000

I don't think there is much difference between 40 and 42 inch sets that you would notice - in my experience these would both look quite big in an average living room.

The S-PVA panel by Samsung and Sony is reported have much deeper Black levels (without any dimming) than the S-IPS type, and have more brightness. The only other panels that might compare are MVA, ASV and possibly IPS Alpha however they all have slightly different viewing angles. SVA is not quite as good as IPS in this respect but I think it is still reasonable enough.
