Which white TVs are available? (32-40", Full HD)

Hi,

I am looking for a white TV set. This seems to be a rather difficult task, it seems that most makers are fixed on black boxes right now.

So far I found the Sony E series, which I consider closely now but I wanted to ask if you guys know of any alternative? Of course I also saw Loewe, but that is beyond my price range. I am looking at 32-40 inches and rather stay within the 1.500 USD price range but if really necessary could go up to 2.500.

In technical features I'd like to have at least 100 Hz and Full HD. A UPnP AV/DLNA streaming client would be great (Sony has one but with supports only a rather limited number of video formats). Also interesting would be if there is any white TV that works with LED technology (so far I found none).

I'd appreciate any tipps.

Thanks and regards, Robert

Thanks for the idea. I did not hear about the rumored LCD TV from Apple with the Apple TV built in. I am sure Apple would deliver a nice design, although I am not sure if it would be white, it seems that the latest models go towards other colors again.

About the Apple TV, I think it is too proprietary, as far as I know it plays neither DivX or XVid (same as Sony) but also does not even support DLNA or UPnP AV (Sony does that).

Anyway, on the long run I think the Internet and network connectivity is better placed in an outside device anyway since the development here will be much faster than for the panels. So I think it is not that important in the TV.

Regards, Robert

Hmmm, in my living room setting black would not really fit. And of course I am technically interested as well and want good features and quality. Therefore I am actually already quite happy with the Sony E series since it seems to get quite good reviews from technical point of view as well.

But still wanted to check what other options are around that I have might overlooked so far.

Regards, Robert

I think Samsung make a lot of their models in white, they just don't tend to be anywhere near as widely available as the black versions.

Other than the E series, Sony have the WE5 which is in white also. Very similar technically.

Samsung would definitively be interesting, where did you see the white models? On their website I could not find either the latest LCD TVs or LED TVs in white.

Whte samsung models end with a 1 so for the B550 in white you would be looking for the B551 (in the UK at least), I personally quite like the Sony WE5. Hope that helps.
Cheers,
Jiff

Example of a white Samsung:

Samsung LE40B541P LCD TELEVISION review cheap prices LE40B541P LCD TELEVISION Samsung best buy discount online uk shop

I've only ever seen this model in white so it may not be a high enough spec tv for your requirements
