Sorry. viewing distance is under 5 foot. Size would be preferably over 32" and use would be gaming occasionally and tv mostly.

Right, how bout this? Toshiba Regza 37RV635DB 37-inch Widescreen Full HD: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

I've heard good things about the toshiba, and it's bang on budget too. I'd also recommend the Samsung le40b530, though this is slightly over budget (can be found for around £470), and I'm not sure if a 40" screen will be too big at 5' viewing distance.

Excellent. Which off the two would say is the better spec. I have no clue on these lol. and 40" is not
a problem.
Also, where have you seen the samsung for around £470? i found one place but it looked a bit dodgy and were out of stock

Re: Have upto £450 to spend on lcd. Any help?

Ok, they're both full hd (1080p), don't have 100hz (you'll want to look at the xv635/b650 for that), in fact they're both pretty similar in spec apart from the toshiba having resolution+, which allegedly makes sd/freeview/dvd's look better by sharpening them, and also the tosh can play video files through it's usb port.

I've got the samsung (hence why I keep trying to push it onto everyone) and I think it's a fantastic tv. It's pretty much the same as the b550, so this review should hopefully help out.

I've not seen any reviews of the Tosh at 37", though the 42" get some good reviews. Hopefully someone who owns one can help!
