Wall mount for Samsung LE40B550 onto dry lined Wall

Hi all.

I have just purchased a new Samsung LE40B550.
It appears to have Vesa 200 mounting points.

I want to mount this on a wall which is dry lined, ie plasterboard secured with blobs of adhesive onto a breezeblock wall.

Given that the TV is Vesa 200, I was thinking of going for this pretty cheap mount TECHLINK|TLCD7|WALL BRACKET, SLIM VESA 200 MOUNT | CPC

It's Vesa 200 and can easily take the weight, but says it's only suitable for upto 32" TV. So I'm confused as to whether it's suitable.

Also there's the issue of what fixings to use. Should I just long bolts through the plasterboard and into the breezeblock behind, or do I need some specialist fixings.

The actual TV is not particularly heavy once you remove the table stand, only 14.8Kg, which is much lighter than my older 32" set that I'm replacing. But I never wallmounted that one.

Any advice appreciated. Although I really want to order a mount today if possible.

Regards

Afternoon,

You may find one of the following range of brackets applicable to you TV suitable.

Dekomount - 40" Samsung lcd plasma wall bracket

All the fixings you will need come with the bracket.

yours

Re: Wall mount for Samsung LE40B550 onto dry lined Wall

Hi, I have the same/similar problem with my new Samsung LE40B550. 4 small holes, 20mm apart. Got a new stand/unit and have spaced the brackets to 20mm but i'm not confident about only using the 4 wee bolts to secure the TV to the stand!!! The bolts (Sammie book says M6 15 but i got M6 20 = only ones B&Q had ...70p each!) seem to be slightly loose when screwed in fully to the TV holes. TV only weighs 15kg but i don't facy £600 smashing onto £100 glass shelves below if i've done it wrongly! Should i use spacers/ specialist other items or just these wee bolts. Sorry...1st post!

Hi

In an instance like where the wall is dot and dabbed (builders term sorry) i would use frame fixings about 90mm long, but you will need to be very careful that you don't over tighten the bolts though as you will break the skin of the plaster board.

I have fitted quite a few brackets in the past for family and friends as i am a shopfitter by trade, and i normally go over the top to make sure of its fixing, i haven't had any trouble yet, i am sure there are other methods?

if you are unsure i will try and explain in more detail how i do it.

Re: Wall mount for Samsung LE40B550 onto dry lined Wall

Hi Jeffers & thanks for reply . Mine is different in that it is to an existing bracket on a stand with 2 glass ledges below (not to wall). Got another reply saying that the 2-3mm steel in back of TV will take these M6 20 bolts and to secure the bolts to the brackets of stand...'tho loose they will hold 16kg TV...but i'm concerned about Wii players loosening TV on these loose bolts and set falling off. How to secure using 4 wee bolts to bracket/stand? Use nuts/ washers/ anything specialist? Thanks, Tom

Re: Wall mount for Samsung LE40B550 onto dry lined Wall

are the bolts long enough for you to double nut them??

normally on site (i am hoping there is some relevence here?) if we need to be sure of nothing coming loose we basically put 2 nuts onto the bolt, tighten them till secure, then tighten the outer one again, then with a file we burr the end of the bolt, therefore knowing that the nut could never work its way lose on its own.

this maybe overkill if you can achieve it but its definately piece of mind?!

Re: Wall mount for Samsung LE40B550 onto dry lined Wall

my apologies i have misread what you were trying to achieve? however it you ever need to bolt something together the above is the way to do it!

I think using 2 washers perhaps 25mm in diameter with and m6 hole should suffice it will spread the load of the bolt then, therefore making it stronger.

Hi Jeffers

What are frame fixings?
I have what seems to be plasterboard on top of the brick walls in an attic and i think whoever did it has done this to put the electric cables behind.
For me to put my bracket on the wall i was either thinking of making sure i drilled far enough in to the brick through the plasterboard and plug and screw etc. The gap is only about 1 inch if that to be honest.
Or my other idea was to hack a hole out of the plasterboard large enough to fit the bracket into against the bricks but then wondered that the bracket may be to far in away from the TV, so maybe using this method but fixing wood between the brick and bracket?
Any help would be appreciated
