Samsung Le40M86 table top stand instability

Hello all!

My first post here and hopefully lot more to come. Unbelieavably just purchased my first LCD TV, that being a Samsung Le40M86. I purchased it second hand so unfortunately not 100% sure if the stand setup is correct.

The problem I am getting is that the base of the table top stand and the 'insert' jobbie don't seem to fit in all the way, so it's fairly easy to tip over. If you put enough force on one side (and not a load) it will literally pop out and fall over.

Needless to say I'm a bit worried about this, with a 3 year old running around who could easily push it over. I can't believe it's naturally like this as standard, so wondered if anyone else has had issues with the stands?

At the moment I have the stand as one piece, the black plastic chuck that connects the TV and stand, and a white plastic ring washer that's loose within the stand.

Any ideas? (It's obviously put away at the moment so as to not cause any harm to anyone)

Thanks
Paul

Hi Trixman,
Welcome to AVF, I've one of these Samsungs and no problems with the
stand, it should be screwed in though so shouldn't be popping out.

I'm assuming you mean the insert pops out of the tv? Take it out and check it over, there should be space for 4 screws that go through the back of the tv into
the stand.

If you take and post a pic of the stand when it's out I'll have a look at mine later (I wall mounted it last month so the stand's out) and see if there's something
obviously missing.

Cheers.

Hi Dunk,

That would be fantastic if you could thanks!

The black plastic jobbie seems to be fine within the TV. Its that piece going into the base that's the problem. From what I can make out, it doesn't seem to go in far enough so doesn't 'take' as such... I'll go take some piccies to illustrate what I mean.

Thanks again!
Paul

Here's the piccies:

The underside base of the stand. It looks like there should be something holding this in place, but there's nothing:

All the parts that came with it. Base, plastic block and a white washer (not sure where the washer goes, it was inside the base but with it in it becomes even less stable:

Any ideas? I think it's definately missing a piece to hold it in... can't believe it just slots in and that's it...

Hi Trixman,
I've just had a look at mine and I couldn't pull it out if I tried, what
you're missing is (at the very least) a metal plate with 4 screws though it
that fits on the bottom of the stand. Those two metal lugs on the base of the
stand push through it into two wide curved slots and limit the amount of
swivel you have. The white washer seems to go underneath the stand
between the stand and the missing metal plate.

I'm at a loss as to why anyone would take it off!

I've take a pic of what it should look like but can't upload it just now as I can't
find the cable for my camera (The perils of moving house and doing it up at the
same time! ) Will dig it out if you need a pic to show the seller what you're
missing

Cheers,
Dunk

I knew it wasn't right!

I'd really appreciate it if you could send that pic over dunk when you can. i think basically the guy I bought it from had it wall mounted, and has packed everything away and lost that piece (although he says he doesn't remember anything else coming with it but will have a look about).

Least I could show him exactly what's missing from it!

Thanks again for your help!

Sorry!

It took me a while to get hold of a cable and then I've been a bit busy and not
managed to get on line.

Hope it's still of use to you, you can see the 4 screws and the hole where the
bottom of the bracket you've got pokes through.

Cheers.

That's fantastic, thanks very much for doing that! I'll keep my eye open for a replacement part as I definately don't have that piece.
