Shorter stand for Samsung LE40B651T3 needed

Hopefully I'm posting in the right bit!

I recently bought a Samsung LE50B651T3 and love it. Problem is I went to Ikea and bought the Expedit TV unit, and despite all my measurements measuring up in the store (just) when I got the unit home and built it, the TV on the supplied stand was annoyingly 10mm or so too tall for the TV hole.

Does anyone know of a custom stand I can get that's a little shorter than the regular supplied one or recommend a course of action? I've thought about using a wall mount bracket on the back of the cabinet, but I don't think it will hold the weight, especially as I am unable to attach the furniture itself to the wall (living in rented accommodation).

Hi

I have two options for you;

1. Many people have used these types of cabinets and attached the TV to the back board. As long as the backboard is a chipboard or MDF rather than the floppy hardboard used on wardrobe backs then you'll be ok. You can basically fit a wall bracket to it by drilling through-holes in the wood and attaching the bracket using nuts, bolts and washers.

2. We have a universal desktop stand here on which you can mount your TV with only a couple of millimeters clearance to the base. The base is 10mm thick so in theory you can have the bottom of the screen around 15mm from whatever it's standing on. The stand has swivel too.

Thanks for that - still - £90 for a stand! Compared with the £30 or so a wall mount costs I may go option 1). I did see another VESA compatible adjustable stand for £115 or so, but that's a lot of money for essentially what is a few bits of metal. The other thing is I don't want to lob out the £££ on a stand only to find the TV still doesn't fit - would your company issue a refund in that instance?

I'll put my TV back on the supplied stand tonight and measure the clearance from the base of the set to the stand and might have to consider spending the money on a table-top stand *if* they can lower the TV as I require.
