Question Good Cantilever brackets... Chief vs OmniMount?

This isn't for Home Cinema use, so inadvertent movements need to be factored in I'm afraid

Hi Guys,

I'm after a bracket to enable the plasma to be more-less corner mounted. I don't yet know which screen size I'm going for in the Panasonic G10 series but I reckon it's going to be the 42" TX-P42G10.

From basic Home Cinema use I know that we can spend as much or as little on the bracket as we want, and that a bigger screen is heavier so a stronger bracket is needed.

I've done a little bit of reading and found that a popular strong bracket is the OmniMount UCL-X. Manufactures website link. It costs $280 from Amazon link. (Although I think £ to $ is not very good on these & around £250 is the best I can find in the UK). I've found some lesser brand ones e.g. the mform Free Motion Cantilever Bracket. Manufactures website link. It’s £159.99. I've also found some cheaper ones e.g. dekomount and whilst I'd be fine with them at home as the only screen moving would be me gently adjusting it, the installation of this G10 is in an event foyer/lobby.... and unfortunately you can guarantee someone will think the screens a climbing frame.

I don’t know whether those brackets would bolt straight on to the Panasonic G10s or whether you use an adapter plate.... any ideas guys?

I've been recommended the Chief MWRUB Flat panel swing arm wall mount (up to 50") manufacturers link and told it will fit all of the G10 models except the 32", with the price being £273.

I've never seen or used either the OmniMount UCL-X or this Chief MWRUB so am wondering if anyone here can give any opinions on them? (I can see they physically look quite different!) and their suitability for my requirements? (mounting a Panasonic G10 across a corner by having a bracket attatched to one wall).

Cheers

Re: Good Cantilever brackets... Chief vs OmniMount?

Hi

Ok, from an M-Form point of view...

The 42" G10 has a 400mm x 300mm fixing on the back, this makes is compatible with most universal brackets rated to 42" so your choice isn't really narrowed down by that.

If you want to corner mount your TV and don't want to push it back flat then this dedicated corner bracket would suit you much better;

M-Form - 32" to 52" Corner Bracket

M-Form - 32" to 52" Corner Bracket With 2 Shelves

It's a much sturdier option than a cantilever bracket as the bracket itself is attached to two walls rather than fixed to one then pulled out and turned. It also has tilt so you can mount it fairly high to prevent 'climbing frame' incidents.

With the G10 you'll be able to mount this into your corner and get up to 20 degrees of swivel left to right for minor repositioning.

Hope this helps.
