mounting to IKEA wooden panel

Hi

I have an IKEA besta TV unit which has a reinforced wooden panel at the back for mounting an LCD TV on. I have a Sony 40W4000 which is currently sitting on its pedestal stand, but I'd like to mount it to keep it tidy. Couple of problems

1) its quite big, so there isn't much space around the edges to see where to hook the mount on, and to get at cables etc. So I think I'd need a mount that could pull out - both for cable access and to even hang the TV onto.

2) strength. Its LCD so not too heavy, but I'm a bit concerned about the leverage with an extending mount putting too much stress on the wooden panel.

Suggestions?

here is a pic of my lounge unit, with an older 37" toshiba wall mounted - that was difficult enough but the Sony is bigger still

Re: mounting to IKEA wooden panel

Hi

This bracket would allow you to pull the TV out to mount it and also get access to your cables;

M-Form - 37" to 52" Free Motion Cantilever Bracket (Black)

Alternatively this flat bracket would only need 20mm above the TV to be able to hang it on, although you'd struggle to get the security fixings into the bottom;

M-Form - 32" to 52" Universal LCD/Plasma Bracket

We've sold quite a few brackets for this application before. The best way to mount to the board is to drill through-holes in the wood and use nuts and bolts to clamp the bracket to the board rather than relying on the structure of the wood to take the weight. We can supply these nuts and bolts FOC on request.

Hope this helps.
