How strong are single arm brackets?

hi all.

im about to order a mount for my sony KDl 32v4000u this week.

it will be fitted to the small chimney in the bedroom. its solid brick. but looking at brackets i see that there are 2 options. single arm or the dual arm.
how solid are the single arm mounts. i know for 30quid more the dual arm (pic on right) will be stronger.

im not actually pulling the arm out all the way its just enough to be away from the chimney allowing me to swivel and tilt.

searching the forums i see many of the mount sellers offering thier products.. but if any forum members have first hand experience please let me know. at the moment im looking at going for the dual arm as it looks stronger and seems safer or can the single arm be just as good?

would like to hear your comments.

attached is pick of the brackets i refer to and a sketch of the bedroom and the chimney im attempting to mount on

Re: How strong are single arm brackets?

Hi

In my experience, a decent single arm bracket is good enough for up to a 32" TV, especially when you're not pulling the TV out much of the full extension.

One thing to bare in mind is whether, with the double arm bracket, you'll be able to see the TV or wall mounting plate behind the TV. This will be more obvious when entering the room from the side but may also be a little clumsy looking from most angles.

Hope this helps.
