Holidaying in Turkey

My wife is looking for a 'cheap' holiday - one week at the end of August.

We are going to Australia over Christmas and that was all we were planning for holidays, but it is a long way off and the recent bad weather is driving our need for a bit of son.

When we say cheap we are looking at flights and apartment (1 bed or ideally 2 bed) for 4 of us (3 adults and 1 child) for around the £1.5k mark.

Generally we are finding Majorca, Greece and Turkey.

Been to the others plenty, but never been to Turkey. There isn't much in it pricewise but you seem to get slight more accomodation for your money (say a 2 bedroom rather than a 1 bedroom).

But don't know much about Turkey but we need to book quickly as there is little availability left anywhere (flight limitations rather than accomodation, I think).

Where is good to go?
What's eating like?
Is it pretty much like Greece?

Cheers,

Nigel

I went to Bodrum which was OK. Theres a variety of shops, castle, loads of boat trips, a reasonable beach and is not far from Gumbez which has a very popular and large beach and nice market and gift shops. Nightlife good and plenty of places to eat and great variety. I went in an October which is the last weeks of the season so it wasnt the busiest time and I cant comment on what July-Sept would bring.
