Holiday Suggestions Far East

Hi guys,

I'm after some ideas for next years holiday.

We are looking at going away late November early December 2013 (the wife's birthday) for 3 weeks and ideally would like a relaxing quiet beach holiday somewhere in the far east.

The wife has mentioned Thailand but I'm not sure if we can find something as quiet as some of the islands we've visited in the Maldives.

Does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions?

thanks

Chris

If she fancies Thailand, Paradee resort on Koh Samet is lovely (but pricey).

Was very quiet and tranquil when I was there.

The islands on the Thai west coast are generally quieter than those on the east, I found. Quite a few to choose from, with a range of budget and comfort.

If you dropped down to Malaysia (easy enough to do), there are the Perhentian Islands, one of which is low-budget, and the other is more posh. These are handy as they're not far from the Thai border.

If diving floats your boat then the east coast has some nice sites - Sail Rock between Ko Pha Ngan and Ko Tao is lovely.

I've been to S.E. Asia a fair amount but not for a few years so this may have changed! You could easily combine a Thai/Malay beach holiday with the Cameron Highlands (Malaysia), Kanchanaburi (Thailand) etc in three weeks - maybe even catch a cheap flight into Cambodia for the Angkor Wat complex (3 full days).

(Found the beaches in Vietnam and Cambodia suffered by comparison. Nha Trang was lovely one trip, and covered with rubbish the next).

I prefer Malaysia to Thailand personally.
Can recommend koto kinabalu and langkawi.
